The Centre has an exceptional array of marine training facilities, including a five bridge full mission ship-handling simulator, in addition to several desktop-based bridges, as well as an engine room simulator.

Our courses:

Engine Room Resource Management Course

Prerequisites: OOW (Deck) or higher CoC

Teaching: Theory sessions supplemented by practical ship-handling exercises on bridge simulators.

Course description: 

下载好玩吧app下载this course provides training in general ship-handling for masters and deck officers.  it is also for those deck officers with limited "hands-on" ship manoeuvring and handling experience prior to taking up their first command or converting to vessels with sophisticated or unusual manoeuvring systems. although more complex types will be referred to, the training concentrates on conventional single and twin screw vessels.

the course comprises training in pivot point variations, propulsion effects, types, effects and limitations of rudders and thrusters, operation of the helm, propulsion and thrusters, effects of wind and current and use of tugs.

Pilot Training

Duration: Two day

Prerequisites: Existing marine pilots or those who have been referred to on this course by appropriate harbour authorities

Course description: 

this course is tailor-made for existing pilots or seafarers upskilling to become pilots by providing them suitable ship-handling practice based on the following topic areas:

proposed syllabus:

  • Position of the pivot point
  • Types, effects and limitations of rudders
  • Effects of propulsion
  • Effects, limitations and use of bow and stern thrusters
  • Interpreting information contained in vessels’ manoeuvring booklets/diagrams
  • Operation of helm, engines and bow thrusters to execute manoeuvres
  • Theory and effects of interaction between ship, bottom, banks and other vessels and tugs
  • Effects of wind and current
  • Effects, limitations and use of tugs

Bridge Resource Management

Prerequisites: Deck officer CoC

Assessment:下载好玩吧app下载 Continuous monitoring of candidate performance and procedural understanding throughout the course with a final competence check conducted by an end of course written assessment

Teaching: 下载好玩吧app下载The candidates are provided with an opportunity to implement navigational procedures learnt in the classroom,  providing them with an opportunity to gain confidence in bridge watchkeeping and teamwork by use of simulators.

Accreditation/Approval:下载好玩吧app下载 MCA as per the STCW code section STCW A-II/2-3

Course description: 

this course is aimed at masters and mates seeking to enhance their skills in effective bridge resource management procedures. the course is primarily designed to be offered over three days but can be extended to incorporate specific procedures required by a company.

the aim of the training is to prepare delegates in effective bridge resource management procedures. upon successful completion of the  course, delegates will be able to:

  • Understand basic human behaviour and the effect of cultural background and personality types
  • Understand the causes and effects of stress and fatigue and the importance of maintaining good sleep patterns
  • Prepare and execute a detailed passage plan
  • Achieve the best use of available resources for the safe navigation of the vessel
  • Apply effective communication skills within a bridge team
  • Appreciate the need and value of effective bridge procedures
  • Effectively interpret ship manoeuvring data

there is no formal examination, but the delegate’s performance and understanding will be continuously assessed throughout the course. a certificate will be issued by demonstration that the defined objectives have been met.
